Aqua - Back to the 80's

It's cheesy, the beat is disco-ish (with an ABBA-like intro) , but having been a 70's/80's fan the lyrics were irresistible. Mentioned in the song: Commodore 64, Twisted Sister, 7up, Ronald Regan, Skinny Leather Ties, Miami Vice, Mr. T, Breakfast Club and a lot more.

It's different enough that it makes an interesting song among the mix of other songs here. I think it would get tired pretty quick, but I can see my son playing it over and over again!

All Hell Is Breaking Loose

It's been awhile since I last posted and with our wedding coming fast my mind is other places. That said I found this wonderful video. I love the animation in this video! It's not big on words, but the tune is somewhat catchy, especially if you watch the video. The tune would get a little repetitive on its own, but with the video it rocks!

Disturbia (acoustic)

It's not so much an unusual tune as it is a different version of a currently popular Rihanna tune: Disturbia. The singing is pretty good, but I really like the acoustic guitar for this particular song:

George Bush U2 Mashup

There are a lot of mash-ups on Youtube, but most seemed to favour one singer over another. What I found interesting about this U2 Sunday Bloody Sunday mashup is that it's in the voice of George W. Bush. Not quite sure how lvlvlv1 managed to get all the clips of George Bush to fit Sunday Bloody Sunday, but it's innovative. lvlvlv1 has a few more mashups, it's worth checking out his profile for other mashups.

Mistabishi - Printer Jam (Video)

If you've never seen Mistabishi's Printer Jam video it's pretty innovative and unusual. I'm not that big on music videos but this one is interesting from the standpoint that people are starting to make 3D printers out of some of these old printers. While that's not the case in this video (it's just special effects), it's almost a reflection of what's going on in the hardware hacking/hobby market.

ccMixter

This evening I found an interesting creative commons music site located at http://ccmixter.org/. It looks like there are a lot of great music remixes here.

Tigarah - Space Travel

Tigarah - Space Travel

I must have sifted through dozens of artists and songs before I got to Tigarah's Space Travel. A lot of music on Jamendo and other sites are electronic noise. There's a certain bit of noise in Space Travel, but it's also got a nice slick disco beat to it that makes it a lot more interesting than most of the noise floating around sites like Jamendo. I didn't pay much attention to the vocals, the sound is neat enough that I just used it as background noise while working on other things. Sadly this appears to be the only thing Tigarah has released. I'll be sure to report if something new comes along from this interesting artist.

Burning Babylon

Burning Babylon : Sproing-A-Dub

When looking for a tunes I might be able to cut from for the start and end of Tech Data one of the groups I came across was Burning Babylon. I'm not a big fan of electronic music unless it includes some vocals.

Sproing-A-Dub from Beat, Beat, Beat doesn't have a lot of vocals, but the mix of reggae-like vocals with electronic beats is interesting.
